While You Were Out

It was early morning. Too early. Arguably too morning. There was a sound in the kitchen. Clattering. Splashing. Laughter?

Down the hall. Light switch? No, what if there really was an intruder? Best to keep quiet and hidden, call the police if necessary.

No signs of movement, but the sounds were louder and clearer. Definitely voices. Coming from... inside the cabinet?

The door was open a crack. Pulling it suddenly wide revealed a half-dozen six-inch-tall winged humanoids lounging in the soup bowls, which were full of steaming water.

"Do you mind?" said the one with the brightest butterfly wings. "A little privacy. You can have them back when we're done."
