Grace eyed the small glass ampoule. "Will it hurt?" she asked.

"Not much," the doctor assured her. "You might experience some side effects: swelling, sulfurous byproduct, occasional unprompted acts of evil. We keep the demons constrained to the little toe for a reason. Not much you can do from in there, eh?" The doctor addressed the tiny demon jovially and shook the vial. The miniature horned figure snarled and clawed at the glass.

"It should be done at the earliest stage," said the doctor, turning back to Grace. "You can only be possessed once, after all. Better the devil you know."
