One Way Street

The headlights showed a brick wall ahead. "Crap," Brigette muttered, throwing the car into reverse. She stepped on the gas, heard the engine rev and the wheels squealing, but nothing happened. She killed the engine and stepped out, intending to see what the rear tires were caught on.

She couldn't move back. She couldn't even turn around. She reached forward to lean on the car and found she couldn't pull her arm back, either. Eventually, her motions carrying her only forward, she found herself pressed against the brick wall, struggling to breathe.

Then she heard the next car enter the alley.
